The idea behind the architectural concept is important because it channels a single thought into every piece of a design, which fosters comfortable living conditions inside and outside of buildings. It involves consideration of climatic and geographical aspects of spaces as well as accessibility of materials within particular environmental contexts, in order to make living conditions more practical. Therefore, the main goal in creating a space is bringing life to it.
Kandovan village has explicit characteristics due to its location and construction. It has been created naturally by carving into a mountain thousands of years back. They have not completely transformed the original nature there, instead they are just adapting themselves to the environmental context, excavating pieces of the mountain like a cave so they can live there. In doing so, they are protecting themselves from extremely cold weather of the northwestern part of Iran. Because the weather is unbearable on high hills, moving inside the caves allows them to live more comfortably.
