WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An enthusiastic and highly energized, organized and motivated individual with exceptional communication and organizational skills. This role will be a key contributor to business development at KENNEDY working with firm Principals.

 

As PROPOSAL STRATEGIST, youR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

Pre-Proposal / Planning

•     Tender Search (APC, MERX, etc).

•     Preliminary Review of Potential Tender (Go-No-Go Matrix +/or Abstract).

•     Preliminary Inquiries w/ Client (Budget, Scope, Schedule, etc).

•     Build Proposal Components: KENNEDY Project Data, Team CVs + Bios, Graphics, Proposal Content, Photos, Project Sheets, Sub-Consultants Info, Corporate Profile.

Proposal Preparation

•     Identify requirement for optional/mandatory Pre-Proposal / Pre-Bid Site Meeting(s).

•     Proposal Kick off Team Meeting; including Sub-Consultants; Proposal Strategies, Approach, Selection of Team and Projects, as needed.

•     Proposal Writing, Editing, and Graphics.

•     Proposal Research: Information Gathering – Project Details; Scope, Size, Original Budget, Construction Cost, Proposed and Actual Project Start and Completion Dates, Project Description, Innovative Design Features, Project Opportunities + Challenges, Photos, Team Members and Sub-Consultants/Specialty Subs, Client /or Contractor Reference Info, etc.

•     Information Gathering – Proposed Team Member Details; Relevant Project Experience, Expertise, Background, etc.

•     Proposal Draft Review; Content, Fees/Hourly Rates, Schedule, Graphics, etc.

Proposal Submission

•     Final Reviews and editing.

•     Printing and Binding.

•     Meeting Submission deadlines.

 

Minimum Requirements

•     Minimum 2 years experience working at an architecture, engineering, construction, marketing or related consulting firm in a proposal writing capacity.

•     Must have excellent organization, communication, writing and time management skills.

•     Able to work and converse efficiently with all levels of colleagues, clients and other external contacts.

•     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign.

•     Ability to work under pressure, follow timelines, and meet deadlines.

•     Detail oriented.

Project Administrator

WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An enthusiastic and highly energized, organized and motivated individual with exceptional communication and organizational skills. This key person will contribute to the integrated development of KENNEDY’s support services internally to the group and externally with key client groups.

A Project Administrator is an essential connection and liaison between our team members, our management and Construction Administration team working on specific elements of client portfolios. The position is for an individual who is driven, a self starter, self directed, and a relationship builder, and who has solid project administration experience.

 

As Project Administrator, you'll be expected to

Deliver

•      Work with the construction administration team, project leaders, and studio staff in the tracking and monitoring of project work or client portfolios including; re-zoning applications, development permits, and project coordination with City and Municipal staff/departments on our submissions.

•     Assist in the submission of project documents, provide tracking support on various project collateral/project portfolios.

•     Document and circulate meeting minutes, document and enter in time to projects for own role and others if needed.

•     Act as coordination liaison with clients and consultants and maintain tracking of information flow.

•     Demonstrate positive attitude and contribute to the culture of the team.

•     Provide other day-to-day production coordination support as required.

•     Research support to studio staff and senior leadership.

•     Liaise with City of Edmonton departments and staff.

•     Consultant and Specialty Consultant coordination.

•     Document and Time tracking and adjunct support to accounting.

•     Run reports from the studio's time management program.

•     Assist with a variety of accounting functions as needed.

•     Cover reception duties as needed.

 

Minimum Requirements

•     Post-secondary education in Project Administration, Project Coordination, Business Administration, or related, with 2 - 4 years of experience (or a solid transferable skill set).

•     Demonstrated administration, research, and client management skills.

•     Above average use and skill with Microsoft Office including excel.

•     Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

•     Proven track record of maintaining high quality standards while working within tight deadlines.

•     Experience in an accounting and Onware an asset.

•     Background or experience in Architecture, Engineering or other Design discipline an asset.

•     Strong skills in communications, excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written) with a high degree of accuracy.

•     Excellent listener, respects diversity of opinions and is open, clear, succinct in personal communication style.

•     Ability to organize and handle several different tasks at once.

Senior Architectural Technologist

WE'RE LOOKING FOR

A Senior Technical and Production Team Member who is versed in the technical project delivery phases. This person will have senior level technical experience in a number of building typologies and systems. A degree in Architecture or a diploma in Building Technology coupled with 15 years or more of architectural experience in design development drawings, contract documents, and construction administration acquired in an architectural office are required.

Senior Technologists work with and report to Job Captains, and other Project Leaders in the studio environment, performing senior level production and building science tasks. This individual is a technical leader who provides technical support in all the project delivery phases, and is accountable for technical content development, accuracy, and quality control and quality assurance, reviews content completeness. They participate in coordination with team members and consultants. They also provide ongoing mentorship to the overall studio compliment.

Experience with state of the art BIM must be demonstrated, preference will be given to those with Revit experience. Expert knowledge of and experience with building codes is also required.

 

As Senior Technologist, you'll be expected to

Deliver

•     Ensure that the interests of KENNEDY are promoted and protected at all times in the technical delivery of our projects.

•     Work with the Job Captain, Project Leaders and Principal in planning the technical expectations and performance throughout project design.

•     Prepare cartoon sets and production plans; oversee production management and reporting functions; report to the Job Captain.

•     Lead, develop, prepare, and review Design Development Drawings (DD) and outline specifications.

•     Lead, develop, prepare, and review Contract Documents (CD) and outline specifications.

•     Direct and support the development of project technical requirements and KENNEDY technical initiatives.

•     Ensure coordination of consultant documentation with respect to project criteria, client program, drawings, and specifications.

•     Perform Contract Administration (CA) duties (as required) in collaboration with the Contract Administrator.

•     Direct the preparation of tender documents.

•     Direct the research and compilation of construction materials and technical assemblies.

•     Direct the assembly, circulation, and filing of project documents.

•     Support the Job Captain(s) in chairing production meetings.

•     Perform code and bylaw analysis.

•     Perform Quality Control procedures and reviews.

•     Coordinate with, and review the work of, project consultants.

•     Collaborate with authorities having jurisdiction.

•     Provide mentorship guidance and direction to other Production Team Members.

•     Mentor staff in project technical development and knowledge.

•     Lead, motivate, and manage project team(s) to produce technically successful design and construction documentation.

 

Minimum Requirements - Recap

•     For Architecture a recognized degree in Architecture or diploma in Building Technology coupled with a minimum of 15+ years of architectural experience in Design Development Drawings and Contract Documents acquired in an Architectural Office.

•     Demonstrated experience with state of the art BIM; Revit experience an asset.

Senior INTERior DESIGNER

WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An expert interior designer with an ability to manage the Interior Design direction on several concurrent projects and provide project leadership. A diploma or degree in Interior Design and NCIDQ Certification, coupled with 10 to 15 years of design experience are required. 

A Senior Interior Designer works closely with Project Leaders, Project Managers, and the Principal to complete design and technical assignments. They also assist with business development, mentoring and coaching of intermediate and junior interior designers, preparing and completing comprehensive interior design construction sets of drawings. Responsibilities may include project management, and contract administration.

We expect a knowledge of building codes and by-laws, and an advanced understanding of construction and construction administration. A strong knowledge and proficiency of graphics software including AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and Adobe CC. Preference given to those with Revit knowledge and experience. Naturally, you're top of the class, with outstanding abilities relating to graphic presentation and design layout, written and oral communication. You're a born leader with excellent time management, relationship building, and teamwork skills, and thrive in the areas of presentation and negotiation.

 

AS Senior INTERior DESIGNER, YOU'LL BE EXPECTED TO

Plan

•     Take responsibility for the overall quality of the interior design product.

•     Act as or work with the Project Leader(s), Project Manager, and / or Principal(s) to create work plans, drawing lists, scope of services, budgets, and staffing requirements to deliver interior design solutions.

•     Review and monitor project scope and initiate corrective actions.

•     Establish and maintain interior design production standards and procedures.

•     Develop innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function, which is reflective of client goals and within project budget.

•     Render conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation / design drawings.

•     Maintain currency with Innovative and Best practices.

•     Current with Sustainability Practices and LEED.

Deliver

•     Inspirational quality of design.

•     Contribute to a culture of strong design / quality and team building.

•     Lead and participate in the KENNEDY design process including creation of design concepts, generation of presentation material and required submission documentation.

•     Apply building codes and construction regulations knowledge.

•     Prepare working drawing contract documents, plans, details and schedules, using AutoCAD / Revit software.

•     Co-Ordinate and / or undertake the selection and specification of furniture systems, fixtures and equipment.

•     Apply creative talent in conceptual design and rendering skills of either hand or computer sketching to convey design intent.

•     Prepare and co-ordinate project schematic / conceptual designs.

•     Prepare required layouts, sketches and space plans required to convey design intent.

•     Prepare presentation boards and materials.

•     Participate in strategic planning, client programming and needs analysis phases.

•     Work with technical and contract administration staff to produce successful design development and contract documentation in alignment with KENNEDY’s standards of quality, client program and budget need, and coordinate project specifications.

•     Coordinate with project consultants and Construction Manager / General Contractor.

•     Chair design and production meetings.

•     Actively manage project fee budgets and costs to ensure profitability; draft fee agreements and contracts.

•     Approve, monitor, and manage all time spent on projects, expenses, and consultant invoices.

•     Work with authorities having jurisdiction to interpret and conform to codes and bylaws.

•     Oversee all aspects of contract administration.

•     Maintain project records.

•     Provide Leadership, training, and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff.

•     Keep current of innovative and forward thinking design including research on materials and products.

•     Attend on-site visits and field reviews and direct outside contractors and vendors as required.

•     Coordinate and / or undertake site deficiency reviews and installation inspections.

•     Apply thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines to incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.

Review

•     Control quality of all project deliverables.

•     Manage project performance issues and resolve problems.

•     Participate in the peer review process for all KENNEDY projects as requested.

 

Minimum Requirements - Recap

•     Diploma or Degree in Interior Design.

•     NCIDQ Certification.

•     10 to 15 years of interior design experience.

•     Strong knowledge of current industry trends as well as local industry manufacturers and representation.

•     Ability to prepare and complete a comprehensive interior design construction set of drawings.

•     Advanced design awareness and knowledge of interior design principles and elements.

•     Advanced understanding of construction and construction administration process.

•     Knowledge of applicable building codes and by-laws.

•     Strong knowledge and proficiency of graphics and CAD software (Adobe CC, Sketch-up, AutoCAD), Revit experience or knowledge is considered an asset.
