WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An enthusiastic and highly energized, organized and motivated individual with exceptional communication and organizational skills. This role will be a key contributor to business development at KENNEDY working with firm Principals.

 

As PROPOSAL STRATEGIST, youR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

Pre-Proposal / Planning

•     Tender Search (APC, MERX, etc.)

•     Preliminary Review of Potential Tender (Go-No-Go Matrix +/or Abstract)

•     Preliminary Inquiries w/ Client (Budget, Scope, Schedule, etc.)

•     Build Proposal Components: KENNEDY Project Data, Team CVs + Bios, Graphics, Proposal Content, Photos, Project Sheets, Sub-Consultants Info, Corporate Profile

Proposal Preparation

•     Identify requirement for optional/mandatory Pre-Proposal / Pre-Bid Site Meeting(s)

•     Proposal Kick off Team Meeting; including Sub-Consultants; Proposal Strategies, Approach, Selection of Team and Projects, as needed

•     Proposal Writing, Editing, and Graphics

•     Proposal Research: Information Gathering – Project Details; Scope, Size, Original Budget, Construction Cost, Proposed and Actual Project Start and Completion Dates, Project Description, Innovative Design Features, Project Opportunities + Challenges, Photos, Team Members and Sub-Consultants/Specialty Subs, Client /or Contractor Reference Info, etc.
Information Gathering – Proposed Team Member Details; Relevant Project Experience, Expertise, Background, etc.

•     Proposal Draft Review; Content, Fees/Hourly Rates, Schedule, Graphics, etc.

Proposal Submission

•     Final Reviews and editing

•     Printing and Binding

•     Meeting Submission deadlines

 

Minimum Requirements

•     Minimum 2 years experience working at an architecture, engineering, construction, marketing or related consulting firm in a proposal writing capacity

•     Must have excellent organization, communication, writing and time management skills

•     Able to work and converse efficiently with all levels of colleagues, clients and other external contacts

•     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign

•     Ability to work under pressure, follow timelines, and meet deadlines

•     Detail oriented

Intermediate Architectural Technologist

WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An Intermediate Technical and Production Team Member who is versed in the technical project delivery phases. This person will have mid level technical experience in a number of building typologies and systems, preparation of documents from concept to completion, especially with small to mid-size projects. A degree in Architecture or a diploma in Building Technology coupled with 6 years or more of architectural experience in design development drawings, contract documents, and construction administration acquired in an architectural office are required.

Intermediate Technologists work with and report to Job Captains, and other Project Leaders in the studio environment, performing mid level production and building science tasks. This individual is a technical maven, accountable for technical content development, quality, accuracy, and content completeness. They participate in coordination with team members and consultants, mentor less experienced team members, and help resolve technical tasks or drawing production problems.

Experience with state of the art BIM must be demonstrated, preference will be given to those with Revit experience. Solid knowledge of and experience with building codes is also required.

 

As Intermediate Architectural Technologist, you'll be expected to

Deliver

•     Ensure that the interests of KENNEDY are promoted and protected at all times in the technical delivery of our projects

•     Work with the Job Captain and Project Leader in planning the technical expectations and performance through project design

•     Implement production plans; implement production management and reporting functions; reports to the Job Captain

•     Assist in the leadership, development, preparation, and review of Design Development Drawings (DD) and outline specifications

•     Assist in the leadership, development, preparation, and review of Contract Documents (CD) and outline specifications

•     Support the development of project technical requirements and KENNEDY technical initiatives

•     Ensure coordination of consultant documentation with respect to project criteria, client program, drawings, and specifications

•     Perform Contract Administration (CA) duties in collaboration with the Contract Administrator

•     Assist in the preparation of tender documents

•     Assist in the research and compilation of construction materials and technical assemblies

•     Assist in the assembly, circulation, and filing of project documents

•     Perform code and bylaw analysis

•     Implement Quality Control procedures and reviews

•     Coordinate with and review the work of consultants

•     Collaborate with authorities having jurisdiction

•     Provide mentorship guidance and direction to more junior Production Team Members

•     Lead, motivate, and support project team(s) to produce technically successful design and construction documentation

 

Minimum Requirements - Recap

A proficient designer with an ability to enhance various projects. A degree in Architecture coupled with 4 to 8 years of architectural experience in the high quality design of complex programs / projects / building types are required. Preference given to those registered with a provincial regulatory board.

An Intermediate Designer works closely with Project Leaders, Project Managers, and the Principal to complete design and technical assignments. Responsibilities may include design, production, project management, and contract administration. May oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on specialized design and act as a design resource. May work on several concurrent projects of varying sizes and assist in the education and development of design staff.

We expect a knowledge of building codes, by-laws, construction practices, and strong technical proficiency in computer usage and software for design and understanding of CAD operations.  Preference given to those with Revit knowledge and experience. Naturally, you're top of the class, with effective written and oral communication skills, and strong time management, relationship building, and teamwork skills.

 

AS Intermediate DESIGNER, YOU'LL BE EXPECTED TO

Plan

•     Work with the Project Leader / Project Manager or other project leadership such as Job Captain, Design Team Leader, etc. to create work plans, drawing units, scope of services, budgets, and staffing requirements

•     In cooperation with the Project Leader / Project Manager, review and monitor project scope and initiate corrective actions as required

Deliver

•     Assist with the KENNEDY design process including creation of design concepts, presentation material, and required submission documentation

•     Participate in the production of successful design and contract documentation in alignment with KENNEDY’s standards of quality, client program, and budget needs

•     Prepare outline specifications and assist in detailed project specification development

•     Coordinate building and development permit submissions

•     Meet project criteria and deliver scheduled tasks

•     Participate in client and public presentations

•     Coordinate consultant activity

•     Assist in leading design and production meetings

•     Work with Project Leaders and Project Managers, build relationships with clients by proactively responding to program and budget requirements

•     May assist with business development

•     Work with senior leaders in proposal development

•     Work with supervisor and authorities having jurisdiction to interpret and conform to codes and bylaws

•     Properly maintain project record.

Review

•     Advise supervisor immediately of any project performance issues and work to resolve any problems including ongoing review of project quality and monitoring of budget and schedule

•     Ensure that competent peer reviews are conducted at project milestones

 

Minimum Requirements - Recap

•     Graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Architecture Degree program coupled with 4 - 8 years of experience in high quality design of complex programs for a variety of projects / building types

•     Registration with a provincial regulatory board an asset

•     Demonstrated design aptitude and capabilities

•     Knowledge of applicable building codes and by-laws

•     Knowledge of construction practices

•     Must be proficient in computer usage for design and understand CAD operations; Revit knowledge is an asset

A Senior Technical and Production Team Member who is versed in the technical project delivery phases. This person will have senior level technical experience in a number of building typologies and systems. A degree in Architecture or a diploma in Building Technology coupled with 15 years or more of architectural experience in design development drawings, contract documents, and construction administration acquired in an architectural office are required.

Senior Technologists work with and report to Job Captains, and other Project Leaders in the studio environment, performing senior level production and building science tasks. This individual is a technical leader who provides technical support in all the project delivery phases, and is accountable for technical content development, accuracy, and quality control and quality assurance, reviews content completeness. They participate in coordination with team members and consultants. They also provide ongoing mentorship to the overall studio compliment.

Experience with state of the art BIM must be demonstrated, preference will be given to those with Revit experience. Expert knowledge of and experience with building codes is also required.

 

As Senior Technologist, you'll be expected to

Deliver
